Six Dutch Gamers break Guinness World Record Non-stop Gaming using Vogel’s TwistDock

Recently, six Dutch gamers started a gaming marathon that would last for 50 hours. During that time, the gamers were continuously playing the game Red Dead Redemption. The Twistdock Endurance Gaming Event took place in the Dixons branch at the Lijnbaan in Rotterdam.

The crew of six gamers consisted of brothers Edward and Maykel Leest, respectively living in Boxmeer and Hengelo, Sven de Vries from Lelystad, Renzo Bos from Baarlo, Robbie van Eijkeren from Middelburg and Marcel van Waardenburg from Amsterdam. They received the award from the hands of the official Guinness World Records representative who had been especially flown in from London.

The previous official world record was established in September 2009 by Chirantan Patnaik from India. That record stood at 40 hours and 20 minutes and has today been broken by an ample margin. The Twistdock Endurance Gaming Event is an initiative of Vogel’s, that used this gaming marathon to draw attention to the latest accessory for Sony’s PlayStation 3, the Vogel’s TwistDock. With the TwistDock the PS3 is always ready for action, and even when the computer is switched off, the controllers are being recharged. Through an ingenious turning system it’s easy to place two controllers at the back of the TwistDock. By simply turning it around, the controllers are available literally at the flick of a hand and always charged. Controllers lying around the cushions of the sofa now belong to the past.

It was a unanimous decision by the gamers to end the attempt after an impressive 50 killing hours. As the record attempt progressed, the solidarity among the participants grew to sit it out to the end together. Besides the title, the new Guinness World Record holders all receive a cash prize of EUR 1,000 and not surprisingly, a TwistDock.

Gerdi Vogels, CEO at Vogel’s Products BV, “If you introduce a totally new product in the market which makes empty controllers something of the past, a new world record non-stop gaming is a fantastic statement underlining the core value of the TwistDock.”

Gaz Deaves, official adjudicator of Guinness World Records: “The contestants entered as rivals but left as friends.”
